Xpeng Introduces Advanced Driver-Assist System Geared for Narrow Roads

Guangzhou, CHINA — On November 5, 2025, Chinese electric car manufacturer Xpeng unveiled plans to roll out an advanced driver-assist system by the first quarter of 2026. This system, tailored for navigating narrow roads, is positioned as particularly beneficial for the European market.

Xpeng asserts that the new technology permits vehicles to self-navigate through tight streets more smoothly than ever and minimizes the necessity for driver intervention. Notably, German automaker Volkswagen has been identified as Xpeng's inaugural client as the company begins to offer the system to other automotive partners.

During Xpeng's AI Day, CEO Xiaopeng He highlighted that this new system, which evolves from their existing driver-assistance capabilities in parking, highway travel, and city navigation, demands less human oversight when compared to Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) system. Furthermore, He pointed out that their system completed a trial route in a reduced timeframe.

He also mentioned plans to visit the United States the following month for a comparative analysis of Xpeng's latest system and Tesla's FSD. His remarks were delivered in Mandarin and translated by CNBC.
