Jeff Bezos, renowned as one of the world’s wealthiest and most prominent tech figures, is returning to a CEO position for the first time since 2021. According to a New York Times report citing three individuals familiar with the matter, Bezos is now the co-CEO of a new AI venture named Project Prometheus.
Project Prometheus aims to use AI to drive breakthroughs in various domains such as research, engineering, and manufacturing. These efforts will focus on enhancing the 'physical economy,' distinguishing itself from the widely recognized AI applications in software development.
Joining Bezos as co-CEO is Dr. Vik Bajaj, a seasoned chemist and physicist with a background in leading life sciences initiatives at Google X, an Alphabet-backed research group known for speculative projects that expand product horizons. Bajaj's previous experience also includes roles at Verily, another life sciences-focused endeavor from Alphabet, and Foresite Labs, an incubator for emerging AI companies.
