White House Considers Alternatives Amid Supreme Court Deliberation on Tariff Powers

National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett announced on Friday that the White House is ready to implement alternative measures if the Supreme Court decides against President Donald Trump's use of emergency powers to enforce widespread tariffs.

Speaking on CNBC's 'Squawk on the Street,' Hassett mentioned, 'There was a big call last night with all the principals to discuss the next steps if the Supreme Court were to rule against this IEEPA tariff,' in reference to the administration's application of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act.

'There are numerous other legal authorities available that can replicate the agreements we have with other countries, allowing us to act almost immediately. Therefore, while we expect a favorable ruling, we are also prepared with other tools to achieve our objectives if necessary,' he explained.
