Ayaneo Unveils the Next II: A Hefty Powerhouse Handheld for 2026

In 2023, Lenovo's Legion Go captured attention with its considerable size, weighing in at 1.88 pounds and stretching 11.8 inches wide. Fast forward to 2026, Ayaneo has unveiled details about its latest handheld, the Next II, which surpasses Lenovo’s device in both size and specifications.

The spotlight is firmly on the Next II’s impressive dimensions. Weighing a substantial 3.14 pounds, it is more than double the heft of the Steam Deck OLED, and notably heavier than Ayaneo’s previous model, the original 2022 Ayaneo Next, which weighed a more manageable 1.58 pounds. The new handheld measures 13.45 inches wide and 10.3 inches tall, which Ayaneo claims is approximately 60% larger in footprint than the Nintendo Switch 2 with Joy-Cons attached.

Despite its bulk, the Ayaneo Next II offers formidable portable PC capabilities. The premium model includes a Ryzen AI Max+ 395 chipset, incorporating 16 Zen5 cores, coupled with a Radeon 8060S graphics processor featuring 40 RDNA3.5 compute units. Such powerful components ensure the device provides a gaming experience akin to a desktop equipped with an RTX 4060 or a high-end gaming laptop like the past year’s ROG Flow Z13.

The Next II features a notably large display complemented by controls suitable for adult hands. The device sports a 9.06-inch OLED display delivering a resolution of 2400×1504, enhanced by refresh rates up to 165 Hz and a peak brightness of 1,155 nits, positioning it well above its lighter, more compact competitors.

Other manufacturers such as OneXPlayer and GPD have also incorporated the Max+ 395 chipset into their handhelds, like the OneXfly Apex and GPD Win5, the latter equipped with an external battery. However, Ayaneo’s Next II firmly distinguishes itself with superior specifications and a premium display.
