BEIJING — Chinese technology company Baidu, widely recognized for its search engine but also engaged in cloud computing, mapping, and other internet services, is expanding its offerings by integrating the OpenClaw AI tool into its main smartphone app.
Baidu spokesperson announced that starting later on Friday, users who opt in will be able to access the AI agent directly through Baidu's primary search app. OpenClaw will assist with tasks such as scheduling, organizing files, and writing code.
Recently, AI agents like OpenClaw have gained significant traction for automating tasks like email management and utilizing online services. Previously available only through chat apps like WhatsApp and Telegram, OpenClaw is now accessible via Chinese tech giants such as Alibaba, Tencent, and Baidu on their cloud platforms.
Baidu, which reports 700 million monthly active users for its search app, is extending OpenClaw's capabilities to its e-commerce operations and other services.
This integration aligns with the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday in China, as major internet tech companies strive to attract more users and capitalize on their AI investments.
