Chinese technology giant Baidu, widely recognized for its search engine, also offers cloud, mapping, and various internet-based services.
BEIJING — Baidu is set to introduce direct access to the highly popular artificial intelligence tool OpenClaw to users of its main smartphone app, according to a spokesperson from the company.
From later this Friday, users who choose to participate will be able to interact with the AI agent via Baidu's primary search app to perform tasks such as scheduling appointments, organizing files, and writing code.
AI tools like OpenClaw have become increasingly popular recently due to their capability to automate diverse tasks, ranging from email management to utilizing online services.
Before this rollout, the Austrian-developed, open-source AI agent was accessible only through chat applications like WhatsApp or Telegram. Now, Chinese enterprises such as Alibaba, Tencent, and Baidu are allowing users to operate OpenClaw on their cloud systems.
Baidu reports having 700 million monthly active users on its search app. Additionally, the company is expanding OpenClaw's functionalities to its e-commerce platforms and other services.
This launch coincides with the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday, as Chinese technology behemoths compete to attract new users and capitalize on their AI investments.
