Chinese tech company Baidu, widely recognized for its search engine, also offers various internet-based services, including cloud and mapping solutions.
BEIJING — Baidu intends to provide users of its primary smartphone application with direct access to OpenClaw, a highly popular artificial intelligence tool, as per a company spokesperson.
Commencing later this Friday, users opting in will be able to communicate with the AI agent through Baidu's main search app. This capability will allow them to perform tasks such as scheduling, file organization, and code writing.
AI tools like OpenClaw have seen a surge in popularity for their task automation abilities, including email management and online service utilization.
Previously, the Austrian-developed, open-sourced AI agent was accessible only through chat applications like WhatsApp or Telegram. Chinese tech giants, including Alibaba, Tencent, and Baidu, have allowed OpenClaw deployment on their cloud platforms.
Baidu reports having 700 million monthly active users for its search app. The company plans to extend OpenClaw's functionalities to its e-commerce platforms and other services.
This integration is set to launch just days before China's Lunar New Year holiday, amid fierce competition among Chinese internet tech giants to attract new users and monetize AI advancements.
