Chinese tech giant Baidu, widely recognized for its search engine, also offers services in areas like cloud computing and mapping. The company is now set to incorporate the highly popular AI tool, OpenClaw, into its primary smartphone app, as confirmed by a company spokesperson.
Beginning later this Friday, users who choose to participate will be able to interact with the AI agent via Baidu's main search application. OpenClaw can assist with various tasks, such as organizing files, scheduling, and coding.
AI agents like OpenClaw have gained considerable traction for their efficiency in automating tasks, ranging from email management to utilizing online applications. Previously, this Austrian-developed open-source AI could only be accessed through chat platforms such as WhatsApp and Telegram. However, Chinese tech players including Alibaba, Tencent, and Baidu have made it possible for users to deploy OpenClaw on their cloud infrastructures.
Baidu reports having 700 million monthly active users for its search app and plans to extend the functionalities of OpenClaw to its e-commerce division and other operations.
This strategic rollout occurs just prior to China's Lunar New Year, as the country's technology leaders compete to draw more users and capitalize on their investments in artificial intelligence.
