One of our favorite TV shows last year was Daredevil: Born Again, Marvel's revival of the immensely popular series in the Netflix Defenders universe. The show offers an enchanting blend of Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio as the formidable crime lord Wilson Fisk/Kingpin. Quickly garnering critical acclaim and securing a second season, Marvel has now released a short trailer ahead of the S2 premiere later this month.
(Some spoilers below for the first season.)
Fans were indeed taken aback when the pilot episode unexpectedly took the life of Matt's best friend and law partner, Foggy Nelson (Elden Hensen), within the first 10 minutes. Meanwhile, Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), Matt's grief-stricken law partner, departed from the firm by the episode's conclusion. This strategic creative move paved the way for a concentrated focus on the parallel arcs of Matt and Fisk. As Matt opted to dedicate himself more to his legal career, Fisk rose to become the mayor of New York City, determined to abandon his criminal pursuits. Yet both characters faced challenges in maintaining their virtuous paths while contending with their darker impulses. This resulted in a captivating, character-focused series that pays homage to its predecessor while asserting its own unique identity.
